From: Executive Board, Arizona State Fire Training Committee

The 47th Annual Arizona State Fire School

The Executive Board of the Arizona State Fire Training Committee (ASFTC), held a special meeting on May 19th, 2020 to discuss the 47th Annual Arizona State Fire School.

After a thorough and challenging review, analysis and discussion regarding the current expected social and economic conditions in the State of Arizona, the Executive Board voted to cancel the 47th Annual Arizona State Fire School that was scheduled to be held this year, September 9 – 13, 2020. The decision was difficult, however, the Executive Board felt it was necessary at this time. This decision was based on the concern for the health and wellness of all participants, along with the financial uncertainty that many organizations are facing.

While this year’s Arizona State Fire School has been canceled, our commitment to training will continue. The ASFTC will continue to work with the Arizona Center for Fire Service Excellence (AzCFSE) and the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association (AFCA), to provide future training opportunities.

The ASFTC, with the support of various other Arizona fire agencies, are dedicated to expanding course offerings this year, with outreach and online training courses throughout Arizona. We view this as an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of the Arizona Fire Service and plan to be back in 2021 for the 47th Annual Arizona State Fire School even stronger, healthier and ready to move forward into the future of the Arizona Fire Service.

Sincerely,

Ed Temerowski, Chairman
Arizona State Fire Training Committee
