Description: This three‐day course provided by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service focuses on the unique response and personal protection challenges that responders face during a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)/terrorist incident or a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) incident. This operations‐level training prepares mergency responders from all disciplines to recognize and identify hazardous material and to mitigate a HazMat incident by preventing further contamination of people, property, and the environment. It is based on National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 472 (2008 ed.) as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.120 and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (40 CFR Part 311) response regulations.
